All of us who have played Manhunt, a video game produced by Rockstar Games and distributed by Rockstar North, and described as one of the most violent and controversial videogames in history, only surpassed by its sequel, we know that there is a curious and dark character that acts as almost final boss of the mentioned game. The mysterious, wild and homicidal pig man, Piggsy.

Many, including myself, when seeing him for the first time were scared or put surprised faces to see him. Perhaps they thought that it was a mutant, a product of a malignant experiment, or that it was one of those deformed at birth in the style of Quasimodo. But simply Piggsy is nothing like that. He is just a completely crazy man with severe mental problems that make him think he is a pig, dressing as such in his fantasy world.

The mystery that surrounds this tenebrous character is enormous, so much that it has led several to theorize its possible origin. Some say that maybe he was one of the first thugs in Starkweather's snuff movies, killing those who were charged with a mask or pig suit, and that little by little he was losing his mind when he found much pleasure in killing, even believing himself totally a pig. Others that perhaps is one of those typical wild children reared as animals, and that surely Starkweather or the Cerberus kidnapped him at an early age, locking him in the attic of the evil director and raising him like an animal, or that he was adopted from an orphanage, or picked up of the streets, with that evil end.

Be that as it may, Piggsy is undoubtedly one of the most mysterious characters in the entire Rockstarverse. This is why I will give my own origin to this character, which is closely related to the sequel to the controversial video game to which he belongs.

Before explaining my theory, I will first try to find out what the Pickman Project is. It was an organization and a secret research center founded by the scientist and main antagonist of Manhunt 2, Dr. Pickman. The project tried to experience a secret weapon at first and was directed by Dr. Whyte. Everything seemed to be going well until the project suddenly had its government funding cut off due to its controversial work methods, meaning that it would close indefinitely. The project towards different experiments on people and animals (monkeys, dogs, cats).

Dr. Pickman decided to do a past experiment, however, he needed a guinea pig in order to carry out his work. Creating the "Pickman Bridge", the final product of this project was to implant an independent personality with experience within a subject, being Daniel Lamb, protagonist of Manhunt 2, the unfortunate one who offered to be one of the guinea pigs of many of the experiments, implanting the murderer Leo Kasper in his mind, in search of creating the perfect killer.

Surely they will say What does the Pickman Project have to do with Piggsy? I will explain it by several points. First, we know that Pickman sought to create the perfect murderer, failing his first attempt as he stressed. However, it is never mentioned that it was the type of the experiment or what happened when it was carried out. Second, Pickman introduced Leo Kasper to Daniel's mind, and as I said, the Project also experimented with different types of animals. Would not the mad scientist have tried to do something like that but with an animal inside a human being?

Pickman at first sight shows that he is a very ruthless and cruel person, not feeling the suffering that he causes in his experiments, like the beings in which he tests them. We see this clearly in a flashback mission of Manhunt 2, where he does not care that Leo possessing Danny has massacred his family, acting as if nothing had happened, besides showing no empathy for how many of his guards or assassins die. Quisitive of that personality, itollowsED cálculo to think that perhaps in the past I would have tried a similar one, like Daniel Lamb.

What do I want to achieve with all this? Perhaps long before the early events of Manhunt 2 in 2006, perhaps in the 90s, in search of the perfect murderer, Pickman was first set in various species of animals, transplanting the personality of many of these to others, like dogs to cats, cats to monkeys, etc., and although many of the personality transplants were successful at the beginning, the animals died did not adapt, died shortly or were uncontrollable. With these failures, he came up with the "brilliant" idea of transplanting a personality from an animal to a human being, focusing on pigs, or perhaps and more precisely, on wild boars, taking into account that they are much more aggressive than the pigs

Thus the controversial experiment was executed. The victim could be an important scientist like Daniel, or a simple inmate of the Dixmor Asylum, where the named game begins. The experiment started, introducing the behavior and characteristics of the animal in the mind of the individual, similar to how Leo was introduced to Danny. As the days passed, the subject began to leave his humanity, and although he could still babble a few words, he began to behave like a wild animal in its entirety, reaching the point of dressing like a pig and killing other scientists and guards. Project security, as devouring his flesh.

When the government of the United States found out, I withdrew the financing to the project, seeing the terrifying experiment like the other tasks, pickman going underground in this way. After the enormous failure and loss of its main funder, and it was seen that the pig man could not be controlled in any way, he was captured and locked up in the Dixmor Asylum, where he would spend some time, probably in a maximum security cell, until he was interested in a figure that surely many are thinking, Lionel Starkweather, or perhaps Mr. Nasty, another mysterious character in the game of which almost nothing is known.

Starkweather, or Mr. Nasty, looking for protagonists for his snuff films, made a deal with Pickman, being the pig man sold as simple merchandise, in exchange for which he financed the experiments of the former with money from the snuff movies. Thus, the pig man happened to become Piggsy, giving him his characteristic chainsaw, as starring in several films for Starkweather before being locked in the basement of his mansion, or maybe he was already locked up from the beginning, only letting go when he was required. Later he would escape, massacring the Cerberus guards in the gardens of the mansion, until his fight and later death at the hands of James Earl Cash.

All this story that I invented in this article might explain some details in Manhunt 2, like the Pervs, gang of the videogame, record snuff movies in their dungeon under their nightclub, briefly recalling the history of the first game, wondering if Starkweather or Mr. Nasty had some connection with Pickman at some point.

Very interesting theory! Personally i think Schaffer is one of the most mysterious characters in Manhunt franchise

Honestly, I think Donald Love could be Mr. Nasty. Think about it, the guy is weird and very extravagant, since in GTA LCS in two missions he sends us to steal a body inside the Romero vehicle, then he sends us to steal the corpses of Ned Leeds, an unscrupulous journalist who cheats Toni Cipriani, the protagonist, in the plot, and Avery Carrington, his former teacher that many may know about GTA Vice City, on the occasion of a supposed party in a hangar, in addition to that before during the Staunton Island missions we can observe him eating a human torso . In GTA III, corrupt detective Ray Machowski mentions that Donald is a guy with strange tastes and money to pay for them, theorizing several fans that maybe Donald could be cannibal or necrophile, a profile that could certainly fit in with someone like Mr. Nasty, mainly for the snuff movies it produces.
What do you think?
