Mr. Nasty is Gary Schaffer

Hello, this is my first post. I believe Mr. Nasty is Gary Schaffer for a number of reasons. Firstly, the Cops' and SWAT's weapons are all listed for sale in the snuff catalog (the instruction manual). Moreover, one of the snuff films, a minor easter egg in the snuff catalog, is called "CCPD Brutality Caught on Tape". This suggests that Gary Schaffer's involvement in the snuff film ring is extensive, and that he allows illegal sales of police weapons used in his films, for the Japanese clientele - the Yakuza: most likely the same gang from GTA 3 who own some territory in Carcer City, like the Leones own territory in Liberty City and Las Venturas. Also, Gary Schaffer is the only other equal ranking ally to Starkweather in the story who plays a large role in the story, as he is the chief (leader) of the police force, which gives Starkweather unlimited legal protection as long as he's the chief. It's obvious to me that "Mr. Nasty" is simply an alias Schaffer created to cover up his real identity. Notice, how Starkweather uses his real name, as his career is already widely questionable to the public, while illegal to the Yakuza, the investors of Valiant Video Enterprises. Meanwhile, Gary Schaffer would have to have an alias, as his daytime career front is being the police chief to the public, but when he is conspiring with Starkweather and the Yakuza he goes by the title "Mr. Nasty". It's quite clear as well that only Starkweather knows Schaffer's real name, as their conversation in the introductory cutscene in Press Coverage suggests their close relationship, through the use of informal language, such as the swearing. Notice as well how Gary Schaffer is never mentioned in the instruction manual, rather only Mr. Nasty is.

There is a common misconteption that Mr. Nasty is a member of the Skinz, or even the leader of the gang. This is impossible though, for a few reasons. Firstly, his job is a film producer, not an actor in one of Starkweather's films. Second, the Skinz ped that is on the left to Mr Nasty's slogan in the instruction manual already exists in the game, and Cash murders him, or them, if you consider that the ped is used more than once in the game. Lastly, the whole point of having an alias is for your real identity to be confidential, so Mr. Nasty would never publish an image of himself in a snuff catalog.

That's a good point, but I personally believe mr.nasty is nobody in the game I think he was meant to not have any part of the actual game other than being behind all the snuff films. Gary Schafer I think was more of a distraction for the snuff films for the public making sure nobody found out about them I could be wrong but if anything I think ramirez was more of starkweathers right hand man over everyone else because hes used to control all the gangs and also at the end of the game starkweather mentions him not anyone else

Very interesting theory! Personally i think Schaffer is one of the most mysterious characters in Manhunt franchise

My theory is that after the events of the game, Mr. Nasty manages to get away with it. Moreover, he successfully sells all the episodes filmed during our game, including the murder of the director (Starkweather) and Piggsy. Just take a look at the game menu, you choose the EPISODE you want to watch (play). Each episode is rated according to the level of violence that consumers of Valiant ENT products expect to see. The whole game is literally one continuous snuff movie with music overlaid on top of the picture. Because of him, the reporter ends up in the hospital, from where he cannot leave, which is confirmed by an interview with her.
