Manhunt GInput adds controller support to the PC version of Manhunt, including analog movement, camera and aiming, button icons and rumble. Keyboard and mouse remain available, and prompts switch automatically when you change input devices.
A gamepad settings page is added to the game. Here you can choose a control layout, remap buttons, and adjust sensitivity, dead zones, camera inversion, button icons and rumble.
Features:
- Four control layouts: classic PS2, original Xbox with one stick, original Xbox with two sticks, and Modern;
- Button remapping, including button combinations;
- Analog movement, camera, aiming and target selection;
- Controller navigation in the main menu, pause menu and death screen;
- Intro video skipping;
- PlayStation and Xbox button icons in menus and tutorial prompts;
- Automatic prompt switching between controller and keyboard/mouse;
- XInput controller support and direct USB/Bluetooth input for DualShock 4 and DualSense;
- Rumble for game events, executions, execution charge, taking damage and chainsaw operation;
- Additional rumble for environmental interactions, the Piggsy finale, Starkweather’s door and execution, and the TV smash scene;
- DualShock 4 and DualSense lightbar feedback for game state or health;
- Console cheat codes entered with the controller and button icons on bonus cards;
- Settings through the game menu and ManhuntGInput.ini;
- MHLL translation support, with separate files for strings added by the mod;
- Optional diagnostic logging.
The classic PS2 layout is selected by default. Button icons follow the connected controller automatically and can be changed independently of the control layout. No XInput translator is required for direct DualShock 4 or DualSense input.
System requirements:
- The Windows PC version of Manhunt — tested with the Steam build;
- An XInput controller, DualShock 4 or DualSense;
- A 32-bit ASI Loader.
To install, place ManhuntGInput.asi and ManhuntGInput.ini together in the scripts folder or beside manhunt.exe. Place ManhuntGInput_Glyphs.txd in data\txd under the game directory. Use a Win32/x86 ASI Loader even on 64-bit Windows. The Visual C++ Redistributable package is not required.
Localization for MHLL:
Standard labels use the current game language. For strings added by the mod, the archive includes a translation template: data\ManhuntGInput\lang\template.txt.example.
Copy the template into the same directory with a name ending in .txt, such as polski.txt. Add a Match entry containing the exact controls-type label from your game translation — the CONTTYP key. Translate the text to the right of each = sign, keep the key names unchanged, and save the file as UTF-8. Follow the character codes used by your translation’s GXT files and font.
Keep UiLanguage=Auto and the default UiTextFile path in the INI, then restart the game. When you change the language through MHLL, the mod selects the translation with the matching Match entry. Multiple translation files can share the same directory. Missing entries retain their built-in text.
The template also supports translated button names and alternative action names used in tutorial hints. Full instructions and examples are included in README_RU_ENG.txt and the template.
Important: read README_RU_ENG.txt before installing. It includes Russian and English instructions, descriptions of all four control layouts, settings and a localization guide. The main INI contains English comments; ManhuntGInput_RU.ini is the Russian alternative. Back up your settings before updating.
The current version is a release candidate. Automated tests pass; live checking of every new rumble effect is still pending.
Bug reports: if the mod does not work correctly, describe the issue in the comments and explain what happens in the game. For diagnostics, set EnableLogging=1 under [Gamepad] in ManhuntGInput.ini and restart the game. Reproduce the issue, exit the game, and attach ManhuntGInput.log from beside the plugin to your report. Logging is disabled by default; turn it off after troubleshooting.
