MHMic — Microphone and Headset (1.1 UPDATE)

MHMic — Microphone and Headset (1.1 UPDATE)

by Kosobrazik

Description

MHMic 1.1 restores the console headset behavior in the PC version of Manhunt. When the player speaks loudly enough into a microphone, hunters hear the noise and may investigate it. The mod uses the game’s existing hearing system. Speech does not alert hunters while a menu is open or the game is paused.

The HEADSET page in the game’s settings lets players adjust microphone sensitivity and the Director’s voice volume, choose a recording device, and select separate playback devices for game audio and the Director’s lines. For example, game sounds can play through speakers while the Director speaks through headphones.
Features:
- Four voice loudness tiers, from quiet speech to shouting;
- Microphone noise feedback on the game’s radar;
- Automatic calibration and background noise filtering;
- Microphone selection, including the Windows default recording device;
- Separate playback device selection for game audio and the Director’s voice;
- Director voice output through a USB-connected DualSense or DualShock 4;
- Sound tests with left, right, and both-channel playback, lasting no longer than 10 seconds;
- Testing with V, or the right-stick button (R3/RS) when using an updated ManhuntGInput;
- Button hints that follow the current input device;
- Microphone testing with radar feedback shown only while the test is active;
- Device rows that cycle through choices without closing the menu;
- Long device names displayed in full;
- Settings available in the game and in MHMic.ini;
- MHLL translation support, with Russian and English defaults and translation samples;
- Optional diagnostic logging.

What’s new in 1.1:
- Added separate selection of the main game audio device;
- Added microphone and playback tests from the HEADSET menu;
- Added R3/RS testing support through ManhuntGInput;
- Improved button hints, device selection, and long device names;
- Updated MHLL translation strings and samples.
Both sliders default to the middle position, 0 dB. The microphone follows the Windows default recording device, and the Director’s voice plays with normal game audio unless another output is selected.
Microphone and Director output changes apply immediately. With LiveGameOutput enabled, the main game audio device can also be switched from the main menu without restarting. Changes made from the pause menu require a restart.

Requirements:
- The PC version of Manhunt;
- A microphone;
- A 32-bit ASI loader.
Place MHMic.asi and MHMic.ini together in the scripts folder or next to manhunt.exe. Back up your INI before updating to preserve your settings. The Visual C++ Redistributable is not required.
ManhuntGInput is optional; an updated build is required for R3/RS testing. Director audio through a gamepad requires a USB-connected DualSense or DualShock 4. Bluetooth gamepad audio is not supported.
Read README_RU_ENG.txt before installing. It includes Russian and English installation instructions, controls, sound testing, basic settings, and an MHLL translation guide. Translation samples are included in the archive.

Bug reports:
Describe the problem in the comments and explain what happens in the game. For diagnostics, set Log=1 under [Debug] in MHMic.ini and restart the game. Reproduce the issue, then attach MHMic.log from next to the plugin. Save the log before launching again, as each launch overwrites it. Logging is disabled by default.

MHMic is an unofficial fan modification and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rockstar Games or Sony.
