MHMic 1.0 restores the console headset behavior in the PC version of Manhunt. When the player speaks loudly enough into a microphone, hunters hear the noise and may investigate it. The mod uses the game’s existing hearing system. Speech does not alert hunters while a menu is open or the game is paused.
A HEADSET page is added to the game’s settings. It lets players adjust microphone sensitivity and the Director’s voice volume, choose a recording device, and route the Director’s lines to normal game audio, a gamepad, or another Windows playback device such as speakers or headphones.
Features:
• Four voice loudness tiers, from quiet speech to shouting;
• Microphone noise feedback on the game’s radar;
• Automatic calibration and background noise filtering;
• Automatic selection of the Windows default microphone;
• Playback device selection for the Director’s voice, saved by exact device ID;
• Director voice output through a USB-connected DualSense or DualShock 4 speaker;
• Settings available in the game and in MHMic.ini;
• MHLL translation support: standard labels follow the game’s language, with separate translation files for labels added by the mod;
• Optional diagnostic logging.
By default, both volume controls are centered at 0 dB. The Director uses DEFAULT, meaning his voice plays with the rest of the game audio. MHMic records from the microphone selected as the Windows default.
Requirements:
• The PC version of Manhunt;
• A microphone;
• A 32-bit ASI loader.
For installation, place MHMic.asi and MHMic.ini together in the scripts folder or next to manhunt.exe. A gamepad is only needed for Director voice output through its speaker. The Visual C++ Redistributable is not required.
Important:
Read README_RU_ENG.txt before installing. It contains English and Russian installation instructions, a guide to every setting, and a short MHLL translation guide. A translation template is included in the archive.
Bug reports:
If something does not work correctly, describe the problem in the comments and explain what happens in game. For diagnostics, set Log=1 under [Debug] in MHMic.ini and restart the game. This creates MHMic.log next to the plugin; attach it to your report. Logging is disabled by default.
